THE BOOSTERS

The Whippany Park Music Boosters, formerly known as the Whippany Park Band Parents Association, has been the backbone of the WPHS instrumental music program for many years. The purpose of the organization and coorperation is for the provision of advancement of the education of the youth who are students at Whippany Park High School, located in Whippany, New Jersey, in the Hanover Park Regional High School District, through the sponsorship of the school’s band and music programs. THE BAND STAFF



Mr. Carl Sabatino
Mr. Sabatino has been on the faculty of WPHS since the fall of 1989. He is the head marching band director, music department coordinator, and director of WP's Wind Ensemble and Pit Orchestra. Mr. Sabatino holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from William Paterson University and a masters degree in Wind Conducting from Hofstra University where he studied with Dr. Peter Loel Boonshaft. Mr. Peter Sciaino
Mr. Sciaino has taught at WPHS since the fall of 1997 after graduating from Syracuse University with a bachelors degree in Music Education. Mr. Sciaino serves as the assistant marching band director and director of WP's Concert Band and Jazz Experience I. Mr. Sciaino has a masters degree in Music Performance and Composition from NYU's Jazz Studies department where he studied trumpet with Laurie Frink and composition with Jim McNeely. Miss Jennifer Smith
Jen Smith has been at the helm of WP's fabulous Color Guard since 2002. Since her arrival the guard has receieved many accolades and has grown exponentially. Miss Smith is a graduate of Whippany Park High School and holds a bachelors degree from Rutgers University. She has vast experience in the activity having previously been a member of the Crossmen of Drum Corps International, the Bushwhackers of Drum Corps Associates, and the Fusion Colorguard of Parsipanny, NJ. She is also currently a member of Winter Guard International's Blessed Sacrament, a perennial finalist in the World Class circuit.

THE BAND

The Whippany Park Marching Band has been a staple at school and community events since Whippany Park opened it's doors in 1967. The band has performed all over the northeast in both competitive and non-competitve venues while garnering many awards and accolades. The Pride of Hanover Township is well respected in the community as a premeir artistic outlet for the students at Whippany Park High School and has been extremely well supported by local residents, merchants, and civic organizations. The band has performed at places such as Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center, Univeral Studios Florida, Giants Stadium, Cleveland State University, and the University of Pennsylvania. The band was also invited to perform on the steps of the Capital Building in Washington, D.C. where they were introduced by New Jersey's Senator Frank Lautenberg. Each year the primary focus of the ensemble is to entertain audiences with their unique style, strong musicianship, and dazzling marching ability.
